become a member of British Triathlon? – We
recommend all Flyers who compete in multi sport
events take out membership of British Triathlon.
The AFF affiliation reduces the cost of this
membership by £10 per year and membership affords
you reduced race entry as well personal accident
cover, public liability cover and a free legal
claims service to name but a few benefits.
To find out more, have a look at www.britishtriathlon.org
about kit? – While it is NOT compulsory to
wear an AFF TriSuit, even if you enter an event as a
AFF member it is recommended that you have
club kit to compete in. This will make you easily
identifiable to other club entrants so that you can
give and receive support/encouragement.
do not currently hold a stock of Flyers tri suits,
however we can provide direct contact details for
tri suit purchase and printing on request.
there any formal training? – Obviously there
are all the coached AFF club sessions which can add
to your strength and speed on your feet, as well as
informal running groups which have sprung up from
within the club.
There are no coached cycling or swim training
said that, in the spirit of the rest of AFF, the Tri
section is equally supportive and encouraging.
Seasoned athletes are keen to help those new
to the sport and often informally arrange trips to
the pool (or lake in the summer months) and outings
on the bike, just ask around you will find people
who train with your level of commitment.
events do you enter? – People decide as
individuals which races to support, from the low-key
off road evening triathlon series at Box End right
through to those who qualify to represent Team GB.
The best thing is to speak to existing club
members and find out which races they have enjoyed.
